Epic! unlimited online children's books

A couple of weeks ago, we were looking for new apps for one of my school iPads when we came across a really neat app! It's available on Andriod, IOS, and the web. Parents and families can subscribe for a monthly fee. The best part...it's FREE for elementary teachers and librarians in the US & Canada!! Yep you read that right, FREE!!

Now let's discuss exactly what the app is all about...
Epic! is an unlimited online children's book resource. Internet connection is needed to stream the books, but they can be saved for offline reading as well. It is designed for ages 12 and under. There are thousands of books available, and they continue to add hundreds of new titles each week!

The Epic! library includes picture books, chapter books, comic books, non-fiction books, and junior novels from leading publishers including HarperCollins and National Geographic. There's also a huge selection of titles with audio read by some of the industry's most talented narrators.

Educators can have up to 36 students per account. You can set up preferences and track student progress. Accounts can be synced to multiple devices (including each child's progress). Kids can unlock badges and rewards. It gives extra motivation and allows them to customize the look and feel of the app.

Promise we're not being paid to rave about this app...we just really love it!

Ch-ch-ch-changes, a new product, and a giveaway!

Ch-ch-ch-changes!!
We're working to freshen up our blog! We've already made a few changes and we're hoping to stick to at least one post a week!

It's officially summer break!! But we are working hard this summer! I am going to be doing K-1 Special Ed resource next year.  I'm also planning to go back to school this fall to start working on my Masters!!

This summer is all about growing professionally and getting ready for next year!

Summer Plans:
  • Blog posts
    • Lots of ideas floating around!
  • New products
    • Already finished 1 and have a nice size to-do list!
  • Read (A LOT) of professional development
    • Now: Whole Brain Teaching
    • Next: Read With Sarah training materials
      • This is the guided reading program we use, and I'm not able to attend the training this summer due to a district required workshop. I've used the program and know the basics, but I want to read and grow more proficient in using it.
    • Then: Any suggestions?!?!
  • Prepare for next year
    • Organize current resources (thinking binders?)
    • Put together my binders (IEP, teacher, and sub)
    • Put together behavior plan, morning work, centers, etc.
  • Prepare for going back to school
    • I don't even know where to begin
  • VACATION!!
    • No explanation needed
What are your summer plans?

NEW PRODUCT!!

I will be using Saxon Phonics & Spelling next year so I made my kiddos a little book to go along with it. I put the book in alphabetical order, but I plan to use in the order the letter sounds are introduced by Saxon.

Currently June 2015

We're linking up for this month's Currently with Farley! It's been a while (since we posted much less did a currently), but we're back!!

Listening--We love Amazon Prime!! Prime Music is the bomb!
Loving--Percy and Bella are glad to have Momma home more!
Thinking--I'm so excited to have the summer to plan this year! We're currently reading Whole Brain Teaching and making plans for next year!
Wanting--They served Blue Bell so they closed due to the recall, but now they have a new brand and will be open this week!
Needing--I really need to clean the house (but it can wait right?)
Summer Lovin'--I love getting to have lazy mornings/days, but this will definitely still be a busy summer. We are looking forward to vacation at the end of June for Lil Man's dance nationals!! And the house hunting has been paused for a few weeks as the last few weeks of school were crazy. We were hoping to be moving about now, but things didn't happen fast enough.
